What are the benefits of learning art at an early age?

As a practicing artist, my experience of learning art from an early age has helped me grow with a sense of self worth, self expression, imagination, optimism and joy! No child should develop the “I’m not good at art” attitude, because everyone is creative and can make art. Art is an important form of communication for all – one that encourages independent thinking, builds self esteem and enhances social and emotional development.

What materials do I have to get for art classes?

All materials are included in the course price. Children will work on paper and be presented with a variety of art materials to experiment with. Just ensure that old clothes are worn as it can get messy!

Do I have to commit to the whole term in advance?

I understand that it can be difficult to know whether a child will enjoy art classes or not, so children are able to try one FREE introductory class before you commit to an entire term. This is subject to class availability as I cannot offer trial classes if the class is already full. If you want to take this option, submit an enrolment form and note in the comments section that you want to try out your chosen class first.

04

Can I work on my own project at the Studio?

Absolutely! And you are encouraged to do so. The classes will help you develop your understanding of basic drawing, painting, composition, colour and tone. Students are encouraged to choose a subject and develop their own style of artwork with the help of one-on-one guidance/tuition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a list of questions I am frequently asked about my classes. They may give you the answers you need!

What do I have to bring to my 1st art class at the studio?

Nothing but yourself, ready to be moved and transformed into the world of visual language!

03

How big are the classes?

Classes and workshops are capped at 12 participants, and classes may be smaller than that number at our discretion

06

How formal are the classes?

Very relaxed and lots of fun. Expect lots of conversation and laughter along with some very intensive learning!

07

How does copyright law affect me if I copy from a painting or a photo created by someone else?

For the purposes of study, it has no effect. Copyright law comes into affect when you begin making money from a copied work, so if you intend to sell it, make sure you either took the photo yourself or have written permission from the artist/photographer concerned.
