Sheila Molloy

Art Therapist

I passionately believe in the power of art to heal. I use this passion to guide and empower my clients, especially women and children who have been traumatised. Through art-making I know that survivors can make sense of and find their way out of chaos, frightful memories and the raw emotion to discover a sense of grounding, strength, safety, understanding and hope. I will help empower my clients where the telling of an experience does not have to be spoken aloud, but can be communicated through the languages and reflection of art expression.

I am an Art Therapist, Profesional Artist and Visual Arts Teacher. My experience is varied and all in the creative field. Over the past ten years I have worked in various roles from a Department Manager in a Games Design company to running my own Art Business to teaching Games Design at TAFE. I hold qualifications in Animation (Cert.), Visual Comunications (Dip.), Management & Employee Relations (Dip.), Local Government Sudies (Cert.), Vocational & Community Engagement (Cert.), Photoshop Expertise (Cert.) and Art Therapy (Adv. Dip.)

"Art Therapy is a relatively young profession and there are a variety of methods one can employ in their work. The process I use is one that combines many years of learning and teaching art which helps facilitate my approach. Also all of the tools and processes I use I have personally practiced to ensure their suitablility for clients. Expression through art therapy should be accessible to anyone dealing with daily life situations. Creating art is highly therapeutic both physicaly and emotionaly. The non-intmidating, peaceful atmosphere can be benefical for children, teens & adults."

philosophy

My approach begins with developing a safe space for a client to enter into or continue on a journey of self discovery. I journey alongside

the client helping to expand their perspective and aid them to develop a connection to their spirit and purpose. Mindful Art offers the opportunity for participants interested in Art Therapy and Positive Psychology to attend one on one sessions, workshops and specific visual arts classes.

Art therapy can allow you to let go of your mind and connect with your intuition. It can help you find clarity in your life, answers and direction. It can give you a break, or help you release what holds you back in your life...
