Karen Gately is a passionate optimist with unwavering belief in the power of the human spirit. An author, speaker, advisor and educator in the fields of human performance and leadership Karen brings a fresh perspective to what it takes to be a successful manager of people. Advocating an approach focused on leveraging both talent and energy Karen shows leaders how to drive performance through inspiring, results-based leadership.

Karen is the author of two books: The Corporate Dojo: driving extraordinary results through spirited people and The People Manager’s Toolkit (published by Wiley July 2013). In both Karen presents compelling argument for why focusing on results and people is critical to success. Karen does away with ambiguous concepts and equips leaders with realistic strategies and practical solutions. Her pragmatic, uncomplicated and down to earth approach sets her apart from many other commentators in her field.

Karen is also an avid media commentator. She enjoys writing for well-regarded publications with her optimistic view on both life and business and is a regular contributor to the AFR, CEO Magazine, In The Black, HRD and Smart Company. Additionally, Karen is often invited to share her expert advice for broadcast media including ABC Media, The Project, The Today Show, Sunrise and Kochie’s Business Builders.

Corporate Dojo founder and 3rd Dan Karate Black Belt Karen Gately brings lessons she learned in the dojo to schools and the world of business.  In this session she will provide powerful insight to the key drivers of human performance including the role capability, mindsets, behaviour and energy each play.

Karen will explore how leaders can inspire discretionary effort and better leverage the potential of their whole team.  She will also share insight to common roadblocks to success and what leaders can do to break through to achieve ambitious objectives – even when the going gets tough.
